Dr Rao Fu

Dr Rao Fu is a dual-qualified specialist anaesthetist (FANZCA) and
pain medicine physician (FFPMANZCA), with a strong commitment to
improving patient outcomes through safe, patient-centred, and
evidence-based care.

He graduated from the University of Otago in 2011 with a Bachelor of
Medicine and Surgery, alongside a Bachelor of Medical Sciences with
First Class Honours. His advanced specialist training includes
fellowship appointments at Wellington Hospital, The Alfred Hospital,
and Epworth Hospital (Pain Matrix) Geelong.

Dr Fu is a Level 3 endorsee of the ANZCA Procedures Endorsement
Programme for delivery of minimally invasive interventional pain
procedures. In 2025, he also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in
Sports and Exercise Medicine (Otago).

He is actively involved in research and medical education through the
Faculty of Pain Medicine, with particular interests in opioid
optimisation, tailored minimally invasive interventional procedures,
contemporary pain management, and advancing clinician education.

Dr Fu is dedicated to providing safe anaesthesia with a focus on
multimodal perioperative pain strategies, supporting a smooth recovery
and improved surgical experience. He strongly values a
multidisciplinary approach and collaborative care tailored to each
individual patient.

Outside of medicine, he is a proud father of two energetic young boys
and the husband of a passionate general practitioner.
